ICONCLASS Ontology
ICONCLASS ontology is an ontological version of the Iconclass classification system. Iconclass is an internationally used hierarchical subject specific classification system for describing contents of pictures developed in the Netherlands.
ICONCLASS ontology models the classification system following W3C SKOS Core Vocabulary Specification.
ICONCLASS ontology is created as a part of the FinnONTO project.

ICONCLASS-ontologia on ontologisoitu versio Iconclass-luokittelujärjestelmästä. Iconclass on kansainvälisesti käytetty hierarkkinen aiheenmukainen luokittelujärjestelmä taideteosten sisällönkuvailuun. Järjestelmä on kehitetty Hollannissa ja Valtion taidemuseo on suomentanut sen suomalaisten taidemuseoiden käyttöön.
ICONCLASS-ontologia mallinnetaan W3C:n SKOS Core Vocabulary -muodossa. Ontologia yhdistetään myös YSO:aan.
Yksi keskeinen ICONCLASS-ontologian sovelluskohde on Iconclass-järjestelmällä annotoitujen kuvataideteosten liittäminen osaksi Kulttuurisampoa. ICONCLASS-ontologian kehitystyö on osa Suomalaiset semanttisen webin ontologiat -projektia.
