Bachelor's thesis topics
Semanttiset suosittelujärjestelmät (Semantic recommending systems)
Instructor: Kim Viljanen, firstname.lastname@tkk.fi
Task: Study and write a review report on how semantic descriptions on content and users can be
utilized in building recommending systems.
Hajautetun tiedon yhdistäminen verkossa (Linked Open Data)
Instructor: Kim Viljanen, firstname.lastname@tkk.fi
Task: To investigate and review the ideas behind the idea of Linked Data (http://linkeddata.org),
technologies used, and major applications.
Folksonomiat ja semantiikka (Folksonomies and semantics)
Instructor: Eetu Mäkelä, firstname.lastname@tkk.fi
Task: Study the tagging systems of Web 2.0 sites and investigate in particular how semantic web
vocabularies and ontologies could be used in improving their performance.
Ontologiapalvelut (Ontology services)
Instructor: Jouni Tuominen, firstname.lastname@tkk.fi
Task: Study what kind of technological support is needed for developing and utilizing ontologies, e.g., in semantic content descriptions and information retrieval. Describe common functionalities that could be provided as services for humans and/or machines.
Ontologioiden muutosten hallinta (Change management of ontologies)
Instructor: Jouni Tuominen, firstname.lastname@tkk.fi
Task: As ontologies evolve in time, processes for managing their changes are needed. Study what kind of methods would be useful in this field, e.g., for integrating datasets that have been described with different versions of an ontology, or for propagating changes to an ontology that extends a changing ontology.
