Opas - Annotation and authoring tool for a library help desk service

Opas is an ontology-based prototype of Ask a librarian service. The research interests in this subproject include:

How to help the librarians in choosing index words for each question-answer pair?
How to use ontologies to make the archive search more efficient?
How could ontologies be used in help desk applications?

Ask a librarian is a service where librarians answer to questions concerning library collections. Each question-answer (QA) pair is indexed to the system. Opas tries to ease the content indexer's work by

suggesting indexing terms automatically based on the content of the question. The indexing vocabulary is based on the General Upper Finnish Ontology (YSO).
suggesting places of a place ontology and Poka's person name recognition tool persons as specying index terms.
retrieving similar QA-pairs based on the selected indexing terms.
retrieving background information based on the selected indexing terms. The background information consist of

classifications of Helsinki City Library Classification System (HCLCS).
material of the library collection, e.g. books related to index terms.
links of the library's link collection.

Opas utilizes automatic annotation tool Poka to extract automatically concepts from the questions. The suggested indexing terms are based on the term frequency and the semantic cliques found from the YSO ontology; e.g. flying, airplane and runway forms a clique aviation.

Opas - Kysy kirjastonhoitajalta -palvelun annotointi ja hallintatyökalu

Opas on prototyyppi ontologiapohjaisesta kysymys-vastauspalvelusta, joka perustuu Kirjastot.fi-toimituksen ylläpitämään Kysy kirjastonhoitajalta -palveluun. Tämä aliprojekti on osa FinnONTO-hanketta.

Projektissa pyritään muun muassa helpottamaan kirjastonhoitajien työtä...

...tekemällä vastauksiin liitettävien asiasanojen valinnan helpommaksi.
...hakemalla automaattisesti samankaltaisten kysymysten vastauksia.
...yhdistämällä eri tietovarastoja ontologioiden avulla.

Kysy kirjastonhoitajalta on webissä toimiva palvelu, jossa kirjastovirkailijat vastaavat asiakkaiden kirjaston aineistoa koskeviin kysymyksiin. Kirjastovirkailijat vastaavat kysymyksiin, indeksoivat kysymys-vastausparit ja tallettavat ne järjestelmään. Opas pyrkii helpottamaan indeksointityötä

ehdottamalla syötetyn kysymyksen perusteella automaattisesti indeksointitermejä. Indeksointisanasto perustuu Yleiseen Suomalaiseen Ontologiaan (YSO).
ehdottamalla tarkentaviksi indeksointitermeiksi tekstistä löydettyjä paikkaontologian paikkoja ja Pokan henkilöiden nimien tunnistimen tunnistamia nimiä.
palauttamalla samankaltaisia kysymys-vastauspareja perustuen valittuihin indeksointitermeihin.
tarjoamalla taustatietoa valittuihin indeksointitermeihin perustuen. Taustatieto koostuu

Helsingin kaupunginkirjaston luokittelujärjestelmän (HCLCS) luokitteluista.
kirjaston aineistosta, kuten indeksointitermeihin liittyvistä kirjoista.
kirjaston linkkikokoelman linkeistä.

Opas hyödyntää käsitteiden löytämiseen automaattista annotointityökalua, Pokaa. Tekstistä löydetyt indeksointitermit suositellaan termifrekvenssin ja YSO-ontologiasta löydettävien semanttisten klikkien määrittämässä järjestyksessä. Semanttisella klikillä tarkoitetaan ontologiassa lähellä toisiaan sijaitsevien käsitteiden ryhmää. Esimerkiksi tekstistä löytyvät käsitteet lentäminen, lentokone ja kiitorata muodostavat lentämiseen liittyvän klikin.
